You'll be happy if...

  • You print 100-500 sq ft per month — the Z9+ Pro will handle it, you just won't amortize the production-class hardware as fast.
  • You don't need 9 inks — if your work is GIS or mostly technical, the Z6 Pro 64-in (6 inks) is the lighter-spec sibling.
  • You're upgrading from an older Z9+ (PageWide line different) — same chromatic-color philosophy, but the Pro adds the spindle-less feed and the optional Gloss Enhancer.
  • You want PostScript — optional 7HC76A upgrade kit, not standard.

  • You print under 50 sq ft per month — you're paying for 9-color photo/fine-art production hardware and barely using it; T1700 or T850 is the right call.

The HP DesignJet Z9+ Pro 64-in Printer is the wide-gamut production photo and fine-art machine — 9 HP 776 pigment inks (cyan, magenta, yellow, matte black, photo black, chromatic red, chromatic green, chromatic blue, gray) plus an optional Gloss Enhancer for uniform sheen across light and dark areas. Resolution is up to 2400 x 1200 optimized dpi through 5 universal printheads (28,224 nozzles total). Print speed is up to 98 m²/hr fast on plain (~1,055 ft²/hr), 29 m²/hr normal on coated, 14.1 m²/hr best on glossy (~152 ft²/hr). The headline difference vs the Z6 Pro 64-in: the chromatic green and chromatic blue inks expand the color gamut for photo, fine art, canvas, backlit, and POP work; if your work is photo or fine-art reproduction, this is the machine. Memory is 86 GB file processing on 4 GB RAM with a 500 GB self-encrypting hard disk. Cartridges are 1 liter for unattended production runs. Connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet only — no Wi-Fi. PostScript/PDF requires the optional 7HC76A upgrade kit; the Gloss Enhancer is a separate 7HC75A purchase. The thing buyers regret: skipping the Multifunction Roll accessory at purchase.
