The Xerox VersaLink C405DN is a desktop A4 color laser multifunction printer for small offices and teams of 3-15 people that need print, copy, scan, and fax in one box without paying for an A3 chassis. It runs at 36 ppm in both color and black-and-white, copies at 36 cpm, and is rated for an 85,000-page monthly duty cycle (Xerox recommends staying around 8,500 pages/month). Standard paper capacity is 700 sheets across the 550-sheet Tray 1 and 150-sheet bypass; expandable to 1,250 sheets with the optional 550-sheet feeder. The 50-sheet single-pass DADF scans two-sided originals in one pass at up to 52 ipm duplex (b&w), and the 5-inch color touchscreen with ConnectKey Apps handles scan-to-cloud workflows the same as the rest of the VersaLink line. Where the C405 earns its place: same-speed color and black, fax included, FIPS 140-2 and AES 256-bit encryption baked in, and the @PrintByXerox email-to-print app for users who don't want to install drivers. Connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet plus USB 3.0 standard; Wi-Fi and NFC are an optional kit. The thing buyers regret: ordering color when most of their print is black — the per-page cost on the high-capacity color cartridges adds up fast if your color volume is under 10%.
