Is this the right printer for you?

Who the Xerox VersaLink C600N is actually for

Most printer pages just tell you what a printer does. Here's the honest version: when this machine is the right choice, when it's fine, and when you should look at something else. We sell a lot of these for a reason, but the reason is not "every office."

Best fit

Pick this if...

  • You run a workgroup that prints fast color but does mostly one-sided output (forms, labels, marketing collateral).
  • You print 3,000-15,000 pages a month and don't care about auto-duplex — the /N is the simplex-only variant of the C600.
  • You're trying to keep upfront cost down vs. the C600/DN — typically $200-400 cheaper at street price.
  • You want the same 55 ppm engine, same 5-inch touchscreen, same Xerox ConnectKey toolchain as the DN.
  • You need a Xerox-managed fleet device that drops into Workplace Suite and AMR meter reads.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You occasionally need duplex — you can manually flip and reload, or upgrade to the C600/DN if usage tells you you need it.
  • You want Wi-Fi — same optional kit (497K16750) as the DN.
  • You want finishing — the 500-sheet finisher and 4-bin mailbox bolt on the same as the DN.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You print two-sided regularly — get the C600/DN. The duplex unit is built in there, not retrofittable here.
  • You need to scan or copy — print-only. Look at the C605 MFP.
  • You need 11x17 — max sheet is 8.5x14 legal. Get a C7000 or larger.
  • You print under 1,000 pages a month — too much printer for the volume.
  • You need wireless out of the box — wired only on the base config.
Full specifications

Every spec, no guessing

The Xerox VersaLink C600/N is the simplex (single-sided) variant of the C600 series — same 55 ppm color/black engine, same 5-inch touchscreen, same chassis as the C600/DN, but without the auto-duplex unit. It prints up to 55 ppm letter (long-edge feed), 45 ppm legal, with first-page-out at 4.7 seconds black / 5.1 seconds color and 1200 x 2400 dpi resolution. Monthly duty cycle is 120,000 pages with Xerox's recommended volume up to 17,000. Standard capacity is 700 sheets (150-sheet bypass + 550-sheet Tray 1), expandable to 3,250 sheets with up to four optional 550-sheet feeders or the 2,000-sheet HCI. The /N suit a workgroup that prints mostly one-sided output — forms, packing slips, marketing collateral, labels — and doesn't want to pay for a duplex unit they won't use. Optional finisher (500-sheet, 50-sheet stapler) and 4-bin mailbox bolt on the same as on the /DN. Connectivity is Gigabit Ethernet plus USB 3.0 standard; Wi-Fi is an optional kit. The thing buyers regret: ordering /N when usage actually needed /DN. If you print two-sided more than once a week, spend the extra $200-400 and get the /DN — the duplex unit is not retrofittable.

Supplies & consumables

Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.

If you lease this printer through us, toner and drum are included. You never pay for supplies separately. That's usually the better deal once you add up real costs over 3 years.

What customers actually say

The 5-star consensus: "it just works"

Small sample size, high signal. The 4 verified reviewers picked this model to replace older inkjets or aging Xerox machines. Common threads in the feedback:

  • "We use this in our office for high-volume color printing and it's been rock solid for the past two years. The finishing options are great and the mobile printing works without issues. Only thing is the upfront cost is steep but it's paid for itself."
  • "Good printer overall, handles our mixed workload of documents and graphics well. The toner cartridges are pricey and the interface could be more intuitive, but reliability has been solid so far."
  • "The print quality is solid and it's fast enough for what we need. My only complaint is the toner cartridges are pricey, but that seems standard for this class of machine."
  • "Upgraded from an older Xerox and the C600N has been reliable. Copy and scan functions work great, and the mobile printing through our IT setup has made things easier for remote staff."
