  • You scan multi-page documents regularly (intake forms, invoices, contracts) and the 50-sheet ADF handles that fine.
  • You want one machine that does the four basics — print, copy, scan, fax — without color or tabloid.
  • You need Wi-Fi standard, not as a kit — both the 3335 and 3345 ship with wireless built in.
Works fine

You'll be happy if...

  • You print 3,000-4,000 pages a month — the machine handles it but you'll be replacing toner more often than ideal. Use the 15,000-page extra-high-cap (106R03624) to keep cost down.
  • You only need a 1,000-page starter toner — that's all that ships in the box (the 2,600-page standard is sold separately).
  • You need to scan to USB or to a network folder — both work, but the older controller is slower than the VersaLink line.
  • You can live with the 4.3-inch touchscreen — it's smaller and less responsive than the VersaLink 5- and 7-inch screens.
  • You're occasionally faxing — color fax send works on the 3345 (200x200 dpi only); receive is mono only.
Look elsewhere

Skip this if...

  • You print more than 4,000 pages a month consistently — at that volume the VersaLink B605 mono MFP is a better fit. Faster engine, single-pass duplex ADF, longer toner life.
  • You need color — this is mono only. Look at the VersaLink C405 or C605.
  • You need single-pass duplex scanning — the 3335 ADF is single-sided only (the 3345 does duplex via reversing ADF, much slower than single-pass).
  • You need automatic duplex copy or 2-sided ADF — the 3335 ADF flips originals manually. The 3345 has a reversing ADF, which works but is roughly half the speed.
  • You need an enterprise-grade hardware platform — this is a small-office device with a 1 GHz controller and 1.5 GB memory. The VersaLink B605 is the upgrade path.

Standard paper capacity is 300 sheets (250-sheet Tray 1 plus 50-sheet bypass), expandable to 850 with the optional 550-sheet feeder. Toner, yields, and what to actually reorder

The #1 question we get on this printer is "which toner do I buy?" Short answer: you have two cartridge options and a drum. Standard yield TN830 covers roughly 1,200 pages. High yield TN830XL covers roughly 4,500 pages and is the better value for most offices. Pick XL unless you print very little.

The drum unit (DR810) is separate and usually lasts 15,000 to 30,000 pages before it needs replacing. At a typical small office volume, expect to change it once every 2 to 4 years.
